Orkus 2003.

1. Can you please introduce to our readers the line-up of the current Ordo R. Equilibrio?

Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio is the uncompromising and egotistical canalization of Tomas Pettersson, his personal preferences, understandings, visions and thoughts; but likewise featuring the female presence, participation and companionship of Rose-Marie Larsen, his dear girlfriend and muse, and live; Fredrik Bergström a.k.a. No Festival of Light.

2. The release of the second part of “Make Love, And War“ was not very long ago. How long did you work on the new album?

The second part of Make Love And War; The Wedlock of Equilibrium, was released in April 2001, more than 2 years ago to be exact, and which according to me, is quite an extensive silence.

After the completion and release of Make Love, And War it was accordingly necessary to gather new inspiration, and which hence resulted in an entire year of creative hibernation and numerous performances throughout Europe.
The gathering of inspiration successively resulted in the realization and recording of “4 Life 4 Love 4 Lust And Roses”, completed in January 2002 but yet unreleased.

Cocktails, Carnage, Crucifixion And Pornography had its genesis in December 2002 and ultimately saw the light of day, 6 months later in May 2003.

3. Is there a certain message behind the title “Make Love, And War“? Can you explain what you wanted to express?

I think the title speaks for itself - make love and war…. dare to love without restraint and make war against that which disturbs you. Make it small or make it big, but do indeed make it.
Would life pursue without Love, would life pursue without War?
Not likely.
War can be the cause of Love, and Love can be the effect of War.

4. There is a great contrast between the rather „simple music“ (one loop makes a song, mostly) and the amount of text which is transported in one song. Do you have so much to say? And what moves and influences you?

Is it really that simple? It suddenly feels like I should stop and write a book instead….

5. Some songs of Ordo show a certain similarity with Death in June songs. “Mary dances in the shadow“, for example, particularly reminds me of “Only Europa knows“. On the other side, the sound of DiJ has changed during their last releases. Do you want to fill the gap DiJ left?

I have absolutely no ambitions or objectives to fill any holes that Death in June might have created, nor do I have any intentions or desires to be reduced to an inferior clone of what Douglas is responsible for (neither is it possible, nor is it necessary).
I no longer feel that the comparison to Death In June is justified or needed. Maybe it was in the beginning of 1993 when I first started, but ten years later I think that I have managed to conceive something (apparently orchestrated with the use of acoustic guitars) which is possible to refer to as Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio without comparisons to Death in June.
But please correct me if I am wrong….

6. Is there a certain message behind the extraordinary song “Liturgy of 6“?

Liturgy of 6 is the incantation and celebration of 6 in all its various forms - Sex, Sex, Sex (Two is Company, Three is an Orgy), Six, Six, Six…. (Satan takes a Holiday)
And so on….

7. There are many samples of groaning women on the new album. Pleasure or pain?

Take you pick.
Isn’t always pleasure received in pain? Ask Albin J.

8. The sound of Ordo seems to be very erotic. What makes a satisfied sexuality in your opinion? Does pain belong to it?

Sexual consensus and an open mind go a long way.
Challenge your horizons and realize yourself and you have accomplished more than most people do in a lifetime.

9. I am very concerned about your political opinion. Bands of the CMI Label have many friends in Germany, but they also have a very questionable reputation. Some journalists/Gothics imply that CMI-Bands are kind of right-winged. Can you please bring light into the darkness?

There are no bands as part of Cold Meat Industry that are evidently allied in ANY direction, neither left nor right, and I believe that this entire assumption is completely preposterous.
How has anyone sane and sober ever reached this conclusion?
In which sense has any CMI band (besides Puissance and possibly MZ412) EVER presented tendencies of being especially right-wing?
If you are able to present me with any sort of hard evidence responsible for the fostering of this “accusation” then I will surely confront these rumors. But until someone is able and willing to present me with anything more than the delusional fabrications of someone’s lively imagination, than there isn’t really anything to confront.
I think that is enlightenment enough.

10. What do you think about your audience? Many people I saw at your show in Nürnberg wear uniforms and some put their right arms up when you entered the stage...

I have merely seen this sort of behavior twice since 1993, once in Leipzig 1998 and once more in Waregem Belgium the very same year, but those are the only two incidents were I have personally seen people raising their right arms to pick apples in the sky, but actually not in Nürnberg, and which is quite unfortunate, especially since there were apples backstage….
But on the other hand, which city in the world serves such behavior better than Nürnberg????

I don’t mind the uniforms, (shirt, tie, skirt, stockings, jacket and boots) there are certainly considerably less appealing fashion statements that dressing properly in uniform.
But before judgment is passed onto me and I am deemed in accordance to my appreciation of uniforms, it must be determined that even schoolgirls wear uniforms, not only men in German and Austrian camouflage.
And couldn’t even the Goths be considered as a uniformed grouping; all in black sprawling hairstyles, white make-up and black eyeliner; wearing black corsage shirts and PVC pants, or fishnet tops and lace skirts? It’s not all that different.

People’s opinions are exclusively theirs, that’s a fact and a situation which needs to be endorsed and defended, it is merely unfortunate that I am victim of the narrow-minded, and unwillingly associated with opinions and understandings disassociated to me and Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio.
If people are incapable of perceiving and understanding the difference between the concept and understandings of National-Socialism and the aesthetic, spiritual and intellectual establishment of Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio, then there’s nothing I can do, especially not as enlightenment and education seems redundant.

11. I’m looking forward to your show at the Wave Gotik Treffen in Leipzig. What can one expect from Ordo playing live?

Don’t expect anything and you won’t be disappointed.
